INGREDIENTS:
1-3/4 cups butter 1 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice 6 eggs, separated 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4-3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 cup chopped citron 3/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup raisins 1-1/4 cups chopped candied cherries



1 Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line two 9x5-inch loaf pans with brown paper. Grease pans and paper. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add spices and mix well. Add the egg yolks and beat thoroughly. Stir in the vanilla and 4 cups of the flour. Sprinkle the remaining 3/4 cup of flour over the citron, pecans, raisins, and cherries, mix, then stir into the batter. Beat the egg whits until stiff and fold in. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 1-1/2 hours.
