Almond Refrigerator Cookies

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter or margarine, softened 1 cup sugar 1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup slivered blanched almonds, finely chopped



1 Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg and almond extract; beat well. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in almonds.
2 Chill dough 15 minutes. Shape dough into three 6-inch rolls; wrap in wax paper, and chill at least 3 hours. Unwrap rolls, and cut into 1/4-inch slices; place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 F for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
