Butter-Nut Squares

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter or margarine, softened 2/3 cup sugar 1 egg, separated
1-2/3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 cup chopped walnuts, divided



1 Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg yolk, beating until mixture is smooth.
2 Combine flour and cinnamon; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts. Press mixture evenly into a lightly greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch jellyroll pan. Beat egg white until foamy, and bursh over mixture.
3 Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup walnuts over mixture in pan. Bake at 300 F. for 50 to 60 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares immediately.
